I studied Foundation Art and Design at Tregye and then went on to study BA(Hons) Degree in Illustration at Falmouth University. It’s been an amazing 3 years which has seen my work evolve massively, and I’m now at the stage where I really feel like I’ve found my artistic groove so to speak. I work in mixed media collage mostly but have a very soft spot for printing. I love seeing how I can translate my work into print, be it screen printing or lino cut printing. Almost all of the work I produce is related to animals in some way, this has happened quite by accident. I find animals much more interesting than people most of the time.
The thing I find most inspiring about cats is their attitude/personality and their expressions.
The grumpier the expression the better. Bizarrely, the cats I have liked the most in my life are the ones who look like they would really like nothing to do with me.
I have a stray, “Mr Whiskers”, who resides in my shed, (when he feels like it)…he’s all worn looking and battle scarred and it took me a year to get him to trust me enough to let me stroke him. But he’s a big bear of a cat and he’s definitely my favourite, mostly because I’m pretty sure he is a warrior of the feline world.
